rich_ Posted June 19, 2023 Share #21 Posted June 19, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Facebook marketplace local to you may have some folks with Leicas to trade. A long shot though. Sadly I moved to the Us last year otherwise would have been keen to investigate a deal! Best of luck for the sale/swap

Thanks. Hi Lucy, not sure if you know or have tried but there is a Leica Classified Group on Facebook, though as you've noted above, while there is some trade in UK it is definitely more US oriented, but in the past I have managed to both buy and sell there.

RexGig0 Posted June 19, 2023 Share #24 Posted June 19, 2023 This may not be a best time to get a best price for a pre-owned M10-R. A way to follow the market is to see what the recent final bids are, on an on-line auction site, such as eBay. Resellers, and savvy private buyers, will use eBay “completed auctions” as a guide in determining how much to offer. I have been following one eBay seller, who has listed an M10-R several times, starting at $5700 US, and gotten no bids. Another seller has an M10-R listed at $5500 US, and has received no bids yet, in an auction ending today. I am actually more interested in acquiring an M10 Monochrom, but have also been following M10-R prices. Of course, the local UK situation may vary, from that in the USA, and patterns that exist on internet forums may vary from patterns on eBay. Not all patterns repeat themselves, but in the initial period of many users dumping their cameras in order to upgrade to a newly-introduced successor, the prices that one can get for the superseded model will take a hard hit, but, as the supply of the superseded model shrinks, on the pre-owned market, the prices will often recover, to some extent, for sellers willing to be patient. I should add the disclaimer that is possible that M10-R prices will never recover. I might buy an M10-R or M10 Monochrom at the end of this month, for ~$5.5K US, for example, only to see the prices continuing to fall. (Thus far, I am trying to keep convincing myself to look at “faster” lenses, rather than upgrade camera bodies.)
RexGig0 Posted June 19, 2023 Share #25 Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) OK, re-reading the original post, and the reply posts, I see that you want to trade for an M10 or M10-P. One can probably realize a better value, by directly trading cameras. The trick is to find the right M10/M10-P owner. Notably, the M10-P cameras have held their value, over time, better than the other M10 variants, so, an M10-P owner may want some “boot,” to use an old USA term, in addition to the M10-R, assuming both are in top-tier condition. Best of luck! Edited June 19, 2023 by RexGig0

M10-R's aren't fetching an awful lot more than M10's in some cases. Fustrating, but I might be wise to hold on to my 6 month old M10-R for a while, for the future bullet proof M11-P. Well, the best way to realize a camera’s full value is to shoot with it, for a number of years. 😉 I still have my M10, with which I started the Leica M system, in April 2018, and, I would not trade it for an M10-R. Actually, I did “upgrade,” by adding the M Type 246 Monochrom. Though released two years earlier than the M10, the low-light performance of the 246 is actually better. I still love my 24MP Leica cameras, and understand why you would want to “step back” from the M10-R. The feature I feel that I am missing is the quieter shutter. The level gauge would be useful, at times, but only measures one axis of movement, and does not appear in the viewfinder. Edited to add: I took a peek at your zucker-gram page, and loved seeing your images, for the brief moment until it prompted me to sign-in. 🙂 Edited June 20, 2023 by RexGig0
suvomitra Posted June 21, 2023 Share #29 Posted June 21, 2023 Hi Lucy63, As advised by andybarton, perhaps you would consider posting on https://www.l-camera-forum.com/classifieds/ to see whether there is any interest in the trade? Suvo
theseahawk Posted April 3 Share #30 Posted April 3 (edited) What would be a good trade-in value for an M10-R in A/B condition be at a Leica store? I know, I can get the real answer from the store, but what are people's thoughts? no box or papers but purchased in EX condition from Leica Store Boston about the date of the last post in this thread. Works great but I have two other M10 bodies and GAS for lenses.... Edited April 3 by theseahawk A/B light usage marks, all functions work
