fotografr Posted November 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would never presume the M8 could compete with the DMR or the Canons with 400 and 600mm lenses, but I was assigned to shoot some non-action stuff today at the Michigan/Wisconsin game and had time to play around a bit so I decided to see what I could get. The first image was shot with the 90 Elmarit and the second one with the 24.

robsteve Posted November 11, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2007 I love the way the American fans seem to be color coordinated. It really adds to the background.

fotografr Posted November 11, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted November 11, 2007 Actually, Rob, it's funny you mentioned that because the head football coach specifically asked that fans come to home games wearing red. He thought it would be intimidating for other teams look around and see a "sea of red."
andybarton Posted November 11, 2007 Share #5 Posted November 11, 2007 Terrific shots Brent. Haven't "football" fans always worn their club colours when attending matches over there? For die-hard fans over here, to attend a match (home or away), without wearing your colours, would be unthinkable. At Anfield, even in the corporate boxes, half the people wear their colours (I draw the line there, but I do wear red when I go in the "cheap seats" ) I'll get some shots of The Kop next time I'm there. fielden Posted November 11, 2007 Share #6 Posted November 11, 2007 We don't need to worry about wearing the colours as all the empty seats are claret and blue at the Theatre of Nightmares which is Turf Moor.
fotografr Posted November 11, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted November 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Terrific shots Brent. Haven't "football" fans always worn their club colours when attending matches over there? Thanks, Andy. Yes, most do wear the colors. The problem is that, for example, the Wisconsin colors are cardinal and white and people were split about 50/50 as to who wore what color. Now they are trying to unify everyone so they all wear cardinal (or red variations).
fotografr Posted November 11, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted November 11, 2007 We don't need to worry about wearing the colours as all the empty seats are claret and blue at the Theatre of Nightmares which is Turf Moor. We used to have the same problem here. I can remember shooting games in the 1980s where 3/4 of the seats were empty and the team was losing nearly every game. Then the university brought in a new chancellor who realized the connection between athletic program success and overall alumni donations and she turned things around. Andy--thought you might enjoy seeing how we avoid contaminating our sea of red with other team colors.
robsteve Posted November 11, 2007 Share #10 Posted November 11, 2007 I also noted that the yellow of the other team contrasts well with the red of the home team.
fotografr Posted November 11, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted November 11, 2007 I also noted that the yellow of the other team contrasts well with the red of the home team. Yes, it does. But there is a serious problem when we play Illinois here because their dominant color is orange. Somehow, orange and red just don't sit well together. stuny Posted November 12, 2007 Share #12 Posted November 12, 2007 Brent - Excellent shots, and in #1 with your M you were probably in harms way. Also, I'm pleased to finally see a photo of women with cropped tops who have the figures for the style.
andybarton Posted November 12, 2007 Share #13 Posted November 12, 2007 Yes, it does. But there is a serious problem when we play Illinois here because their dominant color is orange. Somehow, orange and red just don't sit well together. That's why we have an "away" strip too. Ours is black with red details this year. It's been green, yellow, white, anything except blue, in the past. (Blue is the colour of the "other" team in the city, so would never be used as an away colour by my team ) Those away fans don't look very in with the action up there, I have to say! abrewer Posted November 13, 2007 Share #15 Posted November 13, 2007 Great shots Brent! There was a pro contractor at the Indy 500 this year with his M8 and the 90 happily snapping away. He told me he had given all the big Canon stuff to the guys working for him, and he was just there to have FUN! Great spot for the Michiganders, BTW! Thanks.
