An amazing, still underrated lens. Beautifully made, compact, and with a unique signature.

This old lens works very well with M240, for me.

As you'll know, it's a lovely lens, especially on modern sensors. Razor sharp, but with slightly less contrast than modern lenses. I used to have one, and used it on the M9 I had at the time. My copy could flare a bit when shot against harsh light, but I really appreciated its tiny size, and bank vault-like build quality. It's like a piece of art, almost over-engineered, a statement of what Leica were able to do at the time

I stupidly sold my eight element. I had paid £400 for it back in 1998, and someone on eBay gave me £1650 for it in 2011. I was going all out to get the newly launched 35 Summilux FLE. The prices of eight elements have continued to rocket, to the point that I couldn't justify buying one back. They're going for collector prices now, which is obviously a shame if you want to buy one.

Looks nice on your camera.

I really wanted one of these until I looked them up on Ebay. Yikes! $3000+/- for a decent one ( and many even at that price have haze etc). So I got the LLL replica version - coming in about a week. Hope it’s as good as they are claiming!

I would consider one of those as well. It does seem a very faithful replica of the original. I've some great reviews of it. Do post as to how you get on with it.

A minimal and easy forum sarch yields my side by side field comparison of the Light Lens Lab 35 and Summicron V1 8 element. Not only is the former as good as the V1, it is also about 5-10% better in some optical characteristics. It is in fact so well made/remade/cloned/copied that I have purchased one myself, glazed with what LLL claims to be"safari green" (but it only perhaps matches one green Leica - the M6 TTL Green Millenium - and that is not even confirmed by anyone yet. The Safari and Reporter are unfortunatelly no match). I have put the lens through thorough field use in Japan and will post soon - hopefully this thread can accept a LLL V1 8 elements reissue images as well...?

Let’s do it! I don’t think anyone would notice the difference.

A green one would suit my olive green CL film camera.

Talking about green(s)

This lens (or M240 sensor ? or the combo) can record hues of greens

And of course other colors as well (delicate subtle differences)
