Hello.  My 8e has a slower/more resistant resistant focus ring to my other 35's .  8e owners - how is yours?    

The lens is recently been CLA by Leica so perhaps this is normal  🤔..    but by comparison my 35:2 KOB is very light/quick, and so is my recently CLA'd 35:1.4v2 .

In my experience Leica uses heavy duty grease and I usually dislike the focusing ring resistance after they service a lens.  I would imagine that breaks down over years so maybe it's better for longevity.  But I usually send mine to Youxin or Don to use a light weight grease instead and it's usually butter smooth after that.

Thanks Shawn OK that's interesting maybe a trip over the pond is in order then

Yeah, I believe Leica only uses one grease for the focus rings. In yesteryear they had different greases (heavy to very light), so each photog choose how they wanted their focus action - firm vs light.

I had my 35:2 v3 CLA’ed locally by a old Leica service technician. He still does various grease levels, so my 35v3 is also light and buttery smooth. You would love it, Graham. 😊
