At first, I see some flare, but reminding the old paint was washed out

so not the lens's fault (record what was there)

testing the LLL 8E replica around the house and this maybe my favorite 35mm lens now. It glows.

OK - here it is - the Light Lens Lab 35mm 8 Element copy, this one in brass with black paint...

I just picked it up today - so haven't shot much with it - but here are my first impressions:

Packaging - Wow - super nice! Very Leica like. Came with a zippered case, and solid metal lens caps front and back.

Build and haptics - Mine is solid brass - so heavy and very solid! Focus is smooth and the infinity lock works great. The aperture ring is very thin - but clicks are snappy.

Love the look - this one has the brassing built into the design.

Optics - I need more time to assess this and I do not have a "real" 8 element to compare, but initial shots do not seem as sharp to me as my 50mm V1 collapsible Summicron. It just doesn't have that Summicron bite. Looking at the other shots posted here though - it looks very much the same.

There seems to be a fair amount of vignetting also - even at F8. Not sure if I need to change the lens selection in the menu or what - maybe the original also has this?

It is an exact derivation to the V8, I would be dumbstruck if your copy would lack the Summicron panache, but there are heavy sample variations with Chinese lenses. In my comparison of two perfect copies of both Summicron and Light Lens Lab 35s, images regarding the "bite" (35 Summicrons V1 are really not known for any bite, but for their awesome uniform sharpness and chartacter) is that it is a perfect match, with perhaps slight advantage of the LLL one. Check for yourself: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/326477-summicron-352-8-element-vs-light-lens-lab-352-a-direct-comparison/

Check out this review as well. the results are super close, the only complaint was "slightly too sharp on digital". https://tahusa.co/lens-review/light-lens-lab-summicron-comparison-lll-vs-original/

Disregard any comparison reviews done on Sonys and non-Leica mirrorless cameras.

Still testing - but a few close shots at F2 showed that it was indeed quite sharp, and focusing accurate. No complaints! I much prefer the size of the LLL - without the goggles it is just tiny.

Each time I see the results from this lens, I'm happy having this old lenses and luck having at less one "good" nice copy.

I have not yet compare (what for ?) the two models I use, one goggled M3 type and one M2 type.

This lens was used while travel in Reunion last year.

Some pictures not great as such but pleasant in texture and something else I don't know or just my imagination (that IS fine 😉 for me).
