Just back from oversea, compared Q3 prices of authorized dealers,  US still is the lowest.

Germany, France: 5950 Euro.

UK: 5300 pound.

US: 5995 dollar.

Back ordered everywhere,

The only place you can pick right away is Hong Kong, but the price is 6-7% higher than US.

It depends. Germany, France you can get the VAT back if you export. That's a 20% price reduction. And we have no import / customs fees here in HK. That'll be 5000 EUR or 5300US or 41,500HKD.

The price I quote is pre-tax. I am interested to know which Germany store to get your price.

I bought mine in France in June and paid the full retail price, that is 5950 euros. The shop made out a tax refund paper for 991.57 euros. This paper was scanned by a machine at the French side of the French/Swiss border and this machine displayed the message that I'll be refunded the tax (I crossed over to Switzerland by road- the Swiss customs did not stop the car but they could have done so). At the end of the month the tax was refunded to my credit card.

The Q3 thus cost me exactly 4958.33 euros. I also got some Q3 accessories from the same dealer and the tax charged in that case was also refunded

I guess this is how it works, or I would presume that the dealer could export it to another country from Germany or France at 4958.33 but import duties and taxes may have to be paid at the other end plus shipping charges of course– all this would need to be sorted out with the dealer and one would need to know about customs duties, import taxes etc., should one wish to adopt this course

Hope this helps

Download the Hotstock app and setup the notification for stock at the Leica USA online store. You will need to act right when the notification comes in. I got one yesterday morning at 10:03 am CT. The last two weeks they have put stock out there on a Saturday. Normally it is during the workweek.

I popped in Leica Store in DC in Sept 2023 and put my name on their waitlist for an Q3. I asked how many people there were on it and an ambassador said 200-ish. I had some enjoyable conversation with them and walked outta door, thinking I would never receive a call. They called me on 10/30:) I got the camera next day and since then, I’ve been buying basic accessories. I need a thumb support or hand grip. Decision Decision.

200ish and you get it almost 1 month later!  That’s pretty fast. Sometimes I wonder if Leica behaving like those luxury watches/bags that intentionally let a buyer wait out even though they have stock.

If people order several Q3s in different stores, and then cancel those they dont need, the queues must be proportionately shortened. Three orders by one person, followed by one purchase and two cancellations, gets three people closer to the front of the queue.

NB. I am only describing the phenomenon, not condoning it!

The more likely answer is that the store prefers to sell to people it knows and who have made the effort to contact them personally. The "queue" is not as rigid as some would believe.

I’ve already paid up half at the Leica store and been constantly bugging the Leica customer service.
Looks like my sincerity has not touched them….. 😞

That makes it to about 4500 CHF or 25% cheaper than what Leica Store Zurich charged me. Great deal although not legal to cross the boarder without declaring goods of value >300CHF per Person. But great none the less for you. Means you can essentially sell the Q3 in 3-4 years without a loss.
