Lewca Posted May 30, 2023 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere ... Has anyone experienced using a Heliopan E34 Circular Polarizer on the 28mm (latest edition) Summaron f5.6 - and whether there is any additional vignetting as a result of the filter ? Many thanks. Advertisement Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Hi Lewca, Take a look here 28mm Summaron f5.6 - 34mm Circular Polarizer and Vignetting. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted May 30, 2023 Share #2 Posted May 30, 2023 Haven't used either, but given the wide field, I'd guess that the polarizer will contribute some vignetting of its own depending on the angle of the light plane.
jakontil Posted May 31, 2023 Share #3 Posted May 31, 2023 Expect vignetting definitely, but how far can you tolerate it? I use stack cpl lee filter
Lewca Posted June 1, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted June 1, 2023 Many thanks @spydrxx and @jakontil. I am thinking I will just buy the circular polarizer and give it a try.

The size would make it very fiddly to adjust and almost impossible with a hood. There is the expensive Leica swing over Polariser https://www.reddotcameras.co.uk/leica-filters/397-leica-universal-polarising-filter-m.html but you would need a step ring for it. I think I would try hand holding a larger pre-adjusted polariser in front off the lens as an experiment to see if it works. Lewca Posted June 2, 2023 Author Share #6 Posted June 2, 2023 @pedaes Good suggestion - I think I'll try that first. Thanks
