Hello all, I figured this will likely be a custom job for Kanto cameras and whatnot, but does anyone know if Leica or someone will replace the silver standard Shutter Counter for the Leica MP to a black one?

Aesthetically the Leica MP Black Paint would be perfect if it had a black shutter counter as well as a black hotshoe, similar to the M-A.

My dream is for the Leica MP Bluestein but perhaps I am better off just getting a custom job at Kanto camera....

To be honest when I read this thread I had to go to my MP (which I bought in 2003) and find out just what colour the shutter counter was. Not that I couldn't have guessed it was silver, but just to remind myself that other people have a far higher level of OCD than I have.

It is black on my M5 - and does look very cool.  On all my other black Ms it is silver.  And now I am annoyed thanks to this thread.

Yes as someone who is very aesthetically oriented, it bothers me haha.

I have just sufficient OCD to check that my MP BP has a silver dial - or perhaps aluminium - or stainless steel - or chrome - or titanium.

May I leave this thread now? It's for my mental health.

I hadn't remembered that my black M5 had a black frame counter dial. Now I also remember that it is much harder to read in dim light (where the M5 meter excels). So I think the silver is more practical, if not stylish.

Just for future reference, you can email spareparts@leica-camera.com for any modern spare parts. Although they do not offer anything which requires disassembly of the body for installation. So you cannot get the piece you are looking for from them, but should you need something more external they may be able to help you.

Update.

So Leica is doing a repair on my shutter curtain, and after some asking around and favours, Leica will be putting a black counter in my camera. In the email they said "Yes, they have provided the part number so I have added it to this weeks part order and will get it over to to repairs when it arrives. It is actually the counter used in the MP-3"

On Google, the MP-3 does not have an internal counter. Do you know what model they mean? I know of the Leica MP Classic that has one.

I think you are right!

Now I need my chrome shutter release collar, button and hotshoe rails in black paint too.

The shutter release collar can be found in black chrome , let us know if you have any success locating  the button and  hotshoe  in black !
