I placed my order on June 30th. After having contacted B&H today they said that I shouldn't expect my shipment in 2023.

Yuk. Sorry about that.for you I have seen some of the Leica stores get availability here in the US, but I chose to go with B&H. You might try them?

I ordered mine from B&H on May 28, 1:57Pm so I am hoping mine may be soon. That's why I am intersted in the most recent B&H order filled.

Do we have any reason to think the fulfilment order isn't simply in the order received? i.e., could there be some criteria for priority than the date of order? (origin, previous purchases, geographical diversity, who knows what?).

Leica dealers can get you one within a month or two if you just ask around. Much better than B&H

After joining this forum, I put my name on the list with Leica SF in early August and they are telling me not to expect delivery until 2024. I'm #11 with a smaller dealer, but the owner said delivery could be anywhere from 4-12 weeks, that's how sporadic their distribution system is.  He never knows how many Q3s he will get in a shipment, IF he receives a shipment. Seems you need to be in the right place, at the right time, to get a Q3 these days.

I am an international buyer and there aren't any LEICA stores where I live. I'm sorta forced to deal with B&H although I never had to wait for months for a camera. I'm supposed to go to Japan/South Korea in November and I'm seriously considering the Sony A7CR, at least I know when it will arrive.

Expecting delivery Monday (Oct/2) from LeicaCameraUSA.

Placed order May 27th at B&H and hunkered down for the wait. Signed up at HotStock in late August but missed a couple alerts. Upgraded to HotStock Premium on Sept. 19th, missed a shot due to not pre-arranging checkout at LCUSA. Finally, this week, after setting up everything per HotStock recommendations, an alert showed up Tuesday morning which I secured.

Earlier that morning, 2:35am, I did get an alert about availability at Adorama but I had Do Not Disturb set on Notifications. So, yes, it works.

Thought I’d share my experience with the folks here:

I owned Titanium Grey Q for about 5 years and have been wanting to upgrade to Q3, awaiting release. When it was finally announced, it was a no-brainer so I sold my Q in July/Aug. Little did how excruciatingly difficult it is to obtain a Q3.

Having no luck at US based dealers, I decided to browse through Leica store locator in EU and emailed all stores that might offer international shipping. I emailed at least 20-30 stores, with some stores having Q3 in stock, but not shipping internationally. Then out of nowhere, a store in Amsterdam emailed saying they have last Q3 in stock, and they can ship it to me.

I bought it at EU list minus the VAT and they shipped it to me. $100 for shipping+duty, one week later I had my long awaited Q3 in hand 😊

I placed an order in late Jun (around 28th) and just got a call from Leica DC today for Q3 arrival. I thought it would arrive by 2024. I installed Hotstock too and have missed it many times even though notification was a minute ago. My recommendation is trying at small Leica AD like DC or Boston.

So...while we wait...any "must-have / highly-recommended" accessories for the Q3??  I'm already sold on the thumb support and an extra battery.  I reviewed some back posts and tried another thread, but got little response, so I thought I'd reach out here.  Any thoughts/recommendations on the following:

  • Wireless hand grip - worth it?
  • Half case - do you have one? Worth it?  Issues?  Recommendations on cheaper 3rd party options?
  • UV filter - Leica brand, B+W, Other, Not required?
  • Soft shutter button - is this just bling, or does it really provide some other function I may be missing?
  • Best straps & bags?

I'm a 1st time Leica buyer and getting a little sticker shocked, but thought I ask the experts. 🙂

I'm not an expert but regarding the wireless charging thing apparently it is very finicky and the positioning of the camera is problematic as it needs to be positioned awkwardly. I have seen a YouTube video that demonstrates how the Leica Q3 charges wirelessly and it is really disappointing. I pre-ordered the half case as I read elsewhere that the camera is more prone to scratches than other cameras. I also ordered the soft shutter button but I am not sure it is absolutely necessary but since I was ordering a $6000 camera a $79 accessory didn't seem that bad of a deal. I also ordered the thumb support as I read that it is really well designed and quite useful.

Thanks, I had seen that video before and oddly enough chatted with Wayne at Leica SF today about it.  He said not to believe everything you see on the internet, but then again, he's a Leica salesman. 🙂  I was wondering if anyone else had purchased one and had any experience or similar issues with charging.

Funny, I'm in sync with all your other comments as well (r.e., case, thumb support & shutter button). I'm going to have to do a couple of weddings and some extra family portrait sessions just to pay for the new toy & all the accessories!  🙂   Do you have eyes on a particular strap for your future Q, or going with what's in the box?

[Side note - Leica SF is averaging about 10 Qs/month to a 300+ waitlist, but they are jumping through the list as several people have already procured the camera, are postponing purchases, or are simply not returning their calls.  Also found out that all US imports first come through Leica USA (including those distributed to B&H and other non-Leica vendors). It's not clear how Leica USA determines distribution, but apparently they syphon off a few from each delivery from Germany, which is why every week a handful of cameras pop-up for sale on Leica USA Online.]

I personally think all the Leica Accessories are a waste of money. The shutter button? Really? The Grip doesn’t do anything for me. I had it on the Q/Q2 and I never used it as it made the camera feel worse and heavier. Half Case? No thank you. I prefer the way the camera actually feels. The UV filter for protection is just that. If you’re going by the ocean for a long time or dessert then yes. But otherwise I never use them. The strap that comes with the camera feels great and smells good too. The thumb support I’m neutral on which means you don’t need it. The camera is so light so I have no use for it either. You just spent $6,000. The only thing you might want is an extra battery and a new SD Card

I agree 100% on this. I never added anything to my Q except a cloth strap. To me all those expensive accessories just make the Q ugly and don’t help on anything.

I’d only find a thumb rest useful if I’d carry the Q in hand all time when walking on the streets, but I don’t because it’s much more comfortable to me having it hanging over my shoulder.

Thanks for your input Miltz & Voxen!  From the outside looking in, there does seems to be a 'cult of Leica', where folks go all-in on the brand and process of camera bling. It all seems like fun, if you have the money, but I'm curious if folks have recommendations for 3rd party alternatives.  For instance, I saw a LIM Q3 thumb support for $109, versus the $230 Leica.  Has anyone tried a 3rd party thumb support?

I do live by the ocean and have had a number of occasions over the years where grubby fingers, champagne bursts & beer spills have dotted my lens, so I am definitely getting a UV filter (most likely B+W, unless someone can convince why a Leica filter is better). I'm splurging on the half case as 1) I have seen a lot of used Q2's that are all chipped from use. It gives them a cool look in a way, but dissuades me from wanting to purchase the used camera. 2) There is also some nostalgia in it for me, as growing up I was surrounded by German and Japanese immigrants in our neighborhood who always had their small cameras in these leather holders, so the half case has personal appeal to me.

Anybody have recommendations on a good day bag for using while traveling.  The Oberwerth bags are heavily advertised with Leicas, but again, $600 for a bag??? I'm looking for something small and indiscreet for when the camera is not in use while traveling - any favorites?

Thanks for the input and dialog!

Thank you for the post about GWP. I tried to contact them by phone to check if it was still available on the grounds that the website may not have been updated so quickly, but no answer on the phone. Took a chance and ordered, credit card accepted and email thanking me for my order. Hope it all translates into reality; not sure I will believe it until and unless I have the Q3 in my hands!

I would assume it’s a “live stock” system as after ordering mine it showed 1 left immediately so am sure you’re fine!

I have an older version of this Tenba bag that is quite nice while the messenger-style doesn’t imply photo gear. Multiple compartments, removable padding, waterproof/resistant, lightweight though sturdy, top zipper for quick access and more…
