this is not good. It means fulfilment is gonna be a long drawn out process.

I've just had the same email. They're saying there will be a draw each month, which implies not in the order that notifications were requested. That seems a little unfair to me, if it's true.

There was no suggestion it would be monthly. The message raised more questions than it addressed

This is awful news. The part that sticks out to me the most is: “ to ensure fair distribution”. So two months after launch you’re changing your ordering policy from first come first serve to a lottery. So the person who signed up on May 25th, has the same chance as person who signs up July 19th to get a camera? It’s so absurd it sounds made up. Not being able to meet demand is one thing, but pretty much saying FU to customers who ordered or signed up on launched day is unprecedented.

Received the same email today from Leica UK. Two minutes later, received another to say that I will be sent a link tomorrow morning to purchase a Q3. Obviously delighted. Not least because I never win anything where luck is concerned…

So this will be my first Leica. Looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about. 😀

Same here.. I got two emails, one about the draw and one about me being selected in that. We have a few hours until the afternoon to complete the purchase. I was actually waiting for an M11-P but might bite the bullet on this Q3.

Funny thing was…..am on hols in Vienna, go into the Leica store, handle Q3 for first time, think ‘wow, as good as I hoped’.  Have a chat with the lovely folks there, walk out and 10 mins later get the e mail from Leica U.K.  Feels like those of us who joined the waiting list when/soon after the Q3 was announced, have just been unfairly treated.

For info, Vienna shop said they have about 200 on their list which would mean delivery 4-6 months.

I hope you realise that you do have to pay for it?

Good news good news ! Just contact BH , the rep said they will receive a shipment form Leica in the next 10 days and my order will be cover . I have ordered by 5-25 10am est …

This is great news if it’s true. They actually told me the same thing the beginning of June that they expected massive shipment from Leica next week and since I ordered on launch day I would be in the next batch that came in. That came and went and I received nothing. I called back the following week and they said Yes we’ve hundreds on order that we are waiting for but we don’t have a date or the actual amount of units we’ll be receiving from Leica. We didn’t mean to mislead you. This makes sense why the other times I called they had no info at all. So I stopped calling because they truly don’t know and I didn’t like false hope. If I recall only 1-2 got a camera that week from B&H on the forums and they had ordered 9-10am. Perhaps now they up to 10:30am. Who knows.

Don't believe those folks. They're making stuff up to keep you as a customer. I ordered 25 May around 1045 and was told "ETA Mid July, you'll have it in two weeks". Now it's "in 10 days" (so end of July/getting it in August?). It's all made up bull.

Recently I talked to a Leica dealer in my town, and he told me that he already had 2 dozens of Q3 orders - with down payment - and that it would easily take 4-6 months to get them delivered. 2 Leica dealerships here. This is a honest sales behaviour, not like the other dealership that takes all preorders from prospects w/o down payment. Let's assume that minimum 80% of all those nicely looking but fake preorders will evaporate into the sky in the weeks and months to come.

One can play it like this and preorder everywhere. IMO, despite easy online sales, a good relation with a reliable, down-to-earth, owner-operated dealership in digital times is worth gold! What applies for watches does for Leicas, too.

Ordered mine from Classic Connection (in Connecticut) on launch day, got it yesterday (7/19). Payment not required in advance. Bought from them many times before and highly recommend.

I’m curious if anyone has received notification from the Leica US web store that there were Q3s in stock or a heads up that some would be available on a date/time? I am signed up for notifications but so far have not received any notifications even though there have been very small batches available.

I have not, I’m on that list as well. I happened to time it really well when I got mine.

For the US reader, I highly recommend ordering a Q3 from a Leica US store as they 1/don't require a deposit or pre-pay; 2/they seem to get the preference on stock; and 3/ they may or may not charge sales tax depending on your shipping address State.

I second this. That’s how I got lucky & got one… and I live in California, and I DID pay sales tax.

IMO Not worth getting it a bit early to spend the extra $500+ on tax (that you avoid with B&H and probably a few other retailers I don't know about).
