I have a SL2-S (Safari) with Firmaware 6.0

Bought the new BP-SCL6 while I did not have the camera with me.

Once home, put it in right away... nothiing. I guessed it was fully drained (strange).

I put it to charge... Camera green light was blinking. But never stopped blinking after 24h (normally it locks when charged).

I took it out, tried it on the camera... nothing.

Something I am missing?

Thanks folks.

Oh... Extra info.

I see now that it does not folllow the same charging pattern as with SCL4.

Put 4 on the camera and the green light immediatly starts blinking, at a slow cadence.

Put 6 and nothing happens till 10 secs... then the green light starts blinking fast.

I guess it means error, and it never charges.

Extra info to same problem. My camera does not recognize the 6.

Thanks!

Jaime

Support for the BP-SCL6 was added in firmware version 5.2 The latest firmware is 6.0. That's the first thing I would check.

I wanted to explain how this worked for me:

After trying multiple things, and thanks to forum member @LeicaR10 DM advice, I went to the store and tried and then purchased a charger.

It is clear now that In-camera charging was not working for a fully dead battery. Also, the new battery had to 'reset' its circuits somehow to be able to be used on the camera. This was achieved by charging it a bit in the charger. Now it charges normally both in camera and with charger.

Problem solved :)
