The battery will charge up, but if you try to charge it again or top it off in the Leica charger, the green light will go on, and the amber light will just flicker, indicating an error. You then need to partially discharge the battery and then complete it he charge cycle in the Leica charger. Leica support told me that the initial charge should be in a Leica charger due to the chip I have finished initial charge of BP-SCL6 by Leica charger BC-SCL4. Unfortunately, my Nitecore ULSL charger does not work for BP-SCL6, showing strange voltage and temparature value. My nitecore charger works well for BP-SCL4.

That’s what worked for me

The first charge must be a full charge on the Leica charger due to the chip inside the battery, otherwise, the Leica charger's LEDs will display an error. Elliot Saulten Posted July 17, 2023 Share #27  Posted July 17, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have two of the Q3 batteries and what I am finding is if left in my Sl2 and Sl2s they discharge at a very fast rate compared to the older battery. Go figure, I wonder if while camera is off if there is a draw on it that is greater than with the 1860 mah battery. Not sure what "certification" entails, but suspect it may involve firmware updates for those cameras.
stefanlehmann_ Posted July 30, 2023 Share #30 Â Posted July 30, 2023 Any suggests for USB-C Chargers like Nitecore - does the old one for SCL4 works? I have now 3 SCL4 and 4 SCL6 and SL2 eats them like Chicken Nuggets on Weddings ;-)

It probably means getting type approval for some markets.
goodbokeh Posted August 2, 2023 Share #32 Â Posted August 2, 2023 I emailed Leica USA today (August 2nd) about using the higher capacity Q3 battery. They said "The BP-SCL6 is indeed now certified for use in your SL2". So I'll give my SCL6 copy a whirl with the next charge cycle.
Photoworks Posted August 3, 2023 Author Share #33 Â Posted August 3, 2023 I have used it a few times on the SL2, and it seam to last much longer than the older batteries.
trickness Posted August 3, 2023 Share #34 Â Posted August 3, 2023 I just ordered two of these new batteries from B&H, who got them in stock today. Should have them on Sunday and will report back on differences between the new and the old.

trickness Posted August 6, 2023 Share #38  Posted August 6, 2023 Took quite a long time to charge the new batteries to full capacity (several hours in official charger). Popped one in my SL2 and it powered up, no issues. Haven’t gone out to take pictures yet, hopefully tomorrow.
hoppyman Posted August 15, 2023 Share #39 Â Posted August 15, 2023 After a couple of thousand images so far, I am seeing noticeably longer performance from the new battery in the SL2 in studio environment. By whatever mechanism the new battery is cheaper in USA that doesn't apply here in Australia. AUD330 inc GST vs AUD290 inc GST for the earlier one. I got a spare with my Q3 and am using them all interchangeably in the two cameras.
Sandokan Posted August 15, 2023 Share #40  Posted August 15, 2023 When you say more than the SCL4, what is the price of that? Here the SCL6 is similar in price to in B&H but the 4 is much cheaper (<100) than the US and so the 6 is Chf13 more expensive.
