Moth on my window.  Any spots are because of dirty window, not sensor dust 🙂

Some astro - the Q3 can do that too. I would have to optimize my setting... sandbag on the camping table is not optimal😉

Thanks Aram, no filter, just under exposed by one stop and pulled up the shadows in LR.

I'm curious, do you often underexpose by 1 stop?  I've always done it with my Q2 and now the Q3 and find that I 'm often underexposed by 2/3 to 1 stop on my SL2-S also.  I've always found the colors to look better that way, but others may disagree.

Either under expose by 1-2 stops depending on the situation or use highlight weighted metering but i'm getting mixed results with that so tend to under expose. I find the high ISO performance is excellent and the new noise reduction feature in LR is brilliant.

Thanks for posting these.  Did you crop a lot or are they basically full frame. (except Andromeda of course).  I am wondering because they seem to have less coma than my Q2 in the far corners.  My Q3 should arrive next week.  Can't wait to give it a try.

My first attempt at astrophotography and some macro shots of mushrooms, both taken with the Q3 on the same trip a few days apart. We spent 6 days in dark sky territory Pennsylvania, but unfortunately only had 30 minutes of clear sky. Given my lack of astro experience and the short time window, I'm happy with the result. Perhaps more surprising to me is how versatile the Q3 can be.

There's definitely a bit of coma close to wide open. Here's the upper left corner of one of my original unedited frames shot at f1.8. The final processed image I shared was built from stacking 10 images and reducing stars which hid some of it. I've read that stopping down to 2.8 on any of the Qs helps a lot, but I didn't have a chance to try when I took my images.
