Looking down the North Pier at Blackpool...

The sky I recognise from visits to Blackpool, but did you use a Leica Look on the pier itself? 😀

I am currently running through some pictures of last weekend.

I am not the biggest fan of the Leica Fotostyles, but I've tried a bit the latest addition: Eternal - and I have to say, that I like it.

Just one brief example, M-Jpeg (saved beside Raw), straight out of cam (35mm frame) with a slightly additional crop on the left side, towards a more 4:3 format. Minimum lifted shadows.

This is a very dramatic photo. It would be interesting to see the original rendering, without the addition of the Leica Fotostyle, as a comparison.

Here you go - only the minor additional cropping on the left side. Otherwise I just stayed with the absolute standard in LRC - of course, I normally would adjust the picture to my liking, but for comparison sake, this is the base-base DNG-Version.

The Eternal Fotostyle is for sure on the extremer side, but especially for SOOC the quality is quite good. Overall, it seems, that with the Q3 the SOOC Jpegs are of quite high quality.

Another example. In this case one developed from DNG in a fashion I normally would do it - some adjustments, but not too extreme.

The second one Leica PictureStyle Eternal (embedded M-Jpeg)

Both are corrected in perspective and cropped to liking.

It is of course clearly visible that in direct comparison the DNG has more color dynamic headroom (look at the feathers) - however, the lighting was very challenging.

My subjective preference in each case is for the original: the Eternal style is a bit too blue * for me. BUT, had I not the ability to compare the colour styles, I would be happy with either version of these excellent photos!

* This works fine for the girl in the middle but not for the two men to the right of the first picture. Swings and roundabouts! 😃

Nice job, @LeicyFranky!  Just curious -- how much did you crop?  Gee, maybe I don't need the macro lens for my Nikon any more!  🤫

Hi Rick, I took the pictures in my garden. Both with F9 and ISO 400, 1/160 and 1/320 sec. In JPEG format on a Tripod with Manual focusing.

I use the standard Apple Photo app on my iMac to crop.
