My friend Henry is an expert, doing marvellous cosplay in Singapore, where it's very popular. And now Sydney. He has many thousand Cosplay images. One thing I've noticed is the importance of choosing a bland background, if possible. After all you're focusing on the main actor not distracting elements. They usually take it as a compliment if you approach them and are always super happy when you send them the results afterwards. Cons can be a bit stressful for some (i. e. girls in revealing costumes) because always a ton of “photographers” who want to take their picture. But if you avoid the crowds, these events are enormous fun!
