I do not believe that OIS on such a small lens uses that much battery. On the other hand, EVF and LCD do use a lot of power. I suggest using EVF-Extended mode and turning auto image review off to minimize the drain.

Thanks. I’ve set the camera to evf extended and got two spare batteries already. Just wanted to know if it made any real difference in Ois setting. I’ll live with the battery life for the quality of the image!

You have 3 settings for OIS: 1) On all the time, 2) Auto for when the camera sees the shutter speed go below what it believes will cause shake and blurring 3) Off

I leave the setting on “Auto” as I see no reason to turn it off. I have a second battery as well.

This too for me and think I have set mine to beneath 1/60th. Extended EVF too.

I do not think you can change the threshold for Auto OIS, but you can set the minimum shutter speed for Auto-ISO.

Having just checked, you appear to be right. I could swear I set the OIS kick in at some point. The camera is hard set to kick in on Auto at longer than 1/60s.
