Thank you! Extremely helpful posts! I'm going to look further into the Sigma 105mm, do we know when Leica is coming up with their rebranded Sigma 105mm?

I don`t think there is a confirmed date. But if you look at the most recent rebrandings like the 35mm and 50mm Summicron lenses, I believe that everyone agrees now that optically they are identical to the Panasonic versions, but much much more solidly built. They look and feel like Leica lenses. But the Sigma Art lenses, like the 105mm macro, is very well built as it is and optical performance is super. It is not clear where the rebranding will add value.

In any case, only a few Leica R lenses will get the same IQ as the Macro Elmar 90 M. I think any R lens without APO will not be on par, but maybe they could be good enough to please you.

For shooting what you want, I would recommend the Leica R 100mm F4 + bellows. It goes up to 1:1 and it is made for the job, except maybe the flowers. It will be a bit softer compared to the 90 Macro-Elmar, but makes up for the difference with 1:1 in stead of 1:2 and better handling for pure Macro work.
