I am not sure if this is the right forum for these shots. It is one of the most recent memorial sites in Belgium (Ypres-Zonnebeke) about WW I.

The statue is showing Australian John Hunter dying in the arms of his younger brother James shortly after coming to Ypres in 1917. John joined James to kind of protect him on this adventure and then soon got a deadly wound. James had to leave him in the trenches because of an enemy attack and he came back later to bury him, but in the chaos of war he never found his body.
Almost a 100 years later, in 2006 5 bodies where found during road works. One if them was John. The local WW I expert/café owner Johan Vandewalle was called to the site and identified the body. He was so moved by the story that he started a queste to find any relatives. In the end he found relatives in Australia. Johan started raising funds for this memorial. He financed it as a private project helped by lots of people. The monument is still not completely finished today... It is a memorial to remember all families who sent more than one member to the WW I

@Lelmer@stuny@wda Thank you for your nice comments.

I was afraid the very bad weather was going to ruin my shots, but in the end I found the atmosphere of a very wet, cold and cloudy April day was contributing to this theme.

If you want to know more, or even visit the site (it is free and the pub of Johan is nearby), you can look here:

Thanks for the link...one more place on my "to visit" list 👍

Make sure to visit Johan's café across the street and ask him to see his small museum upstairs.
