I get the feeling that in stock Q2 will be selling like fresh hot buns...after Q3 (w/tilted screen) release.

The wish of so many will have a price tag.

...or maybe they will do Q3 Base and Q3 Tilt?

The way you phrase it it sounds like a either or. Or as if people said Leica should release a 50mm version instead of a 28mm version. I don’t think that this is/was the case here.

Btw, I‘d prefer 40mm instead of 50.

Well, yes the 28/1.7 should be refreshed given the design age and the jump from 24 to 60 MPs. But my guess is it won't be. However, I would be happy to be surprised with a reformulation. I'll probably buy a Q3 anyway but I'll keep my trusty Q2 for awhile so I'm not caught out with a lengthy Q3 repair, given Leica's history with defect snafus on new products.

What I said was the crop mode covers other focal lengths posted here as desirable, which is in fact what Leica has said. And 60 megapixels only strengthens that capability.

And it’s probably about as likely they’ll release a 135mm Q as they’ll ever put out a 40mm. But hey, like Debby Harry said, dreaming is free

I can’t speak for anybody else, but I certainly can speak for myself: I bought a Q2M because it was a monochrom camera with a lens for $3500 less than an M10M. I primarily use it in manual focus. The only reason why I remain interested in an M body (mono or not) is because the Q is a 28. If the Q3 was available as a 50mm, I would entertain no such thoughts. And plenty of people here have both Q and M (or SL) bodies BECAUSE the Q is a fixed 28.

Leica is very smart about getting us to buy multiple bodies, platforms….they are always sure to never give us one camera that does everything. Quite like Apple.

None of us really know what Leica will do, but I don’t ever expect a Q with a fixed 50, no matter how much people here might fantasize about it.

Yes, yes. This is why the Q didn't come with a 35mm to begin with, even though it's their most sold focal length. Leica has done pretty well during the recent camera market downturn.

In my opinion, you misunderstood what people said here. I believe the quote is from a well-known singer.

"Do not confuse dreams with wishes. Dreams build conviction because you work hard to pay the price to make sure that they come true. Wishes are hoping good things will happen to you but there is no fire in your gut that causes you to put everything forth to overcome all the obstacles”

From what I've read, some people would like them to release a 40mm or 50mm Leica Q3. Not more, not less.

As I said, I had a Leica Q2 (and tried a 28mm Ricoh GR twice). Sold all of them again for their focal length. Now I have a Ricoh GRIIIx which features 40mm. That's different.

One way to solve the "problem" would be easy. If you crop to 35 or 50mm etc. on a Q2/3, show the cropped picture on the screen/in the viewfinder. Or at least offer this option. Not just those frames. But this probably is against Leicas purism of imitating a rangefinder camera. Just to be sure, I'm not dreaming of a Q3 that offers this feature. I just wish that they implement it. But I don't see it coming.

My guess is that there is a process of steady improvement at Leica, where the individual small steps may not be significant enough to warrant an announcement. It would only be by technical testing of MDF's etc between an early Q1 lens and a Q3 that one would be able to give a definitive opinion.

Looks like they live in a parallel universe on that site. Holding my laptop to a mirror and reading the small print is beyond me.

Easy to read 😉

Google Translate is your friend!

But that just talks about a 28mm Q3 with 60mp sensor, not a 50mm Q3 with 47mp sensor (though i didn't dig deeper to see what else they talk about - rumour sites are not just a rabbit hole, but a full warren).

That’s a comically bad PS mashup of old and new, with a dash of recreational chemicals to fuel the juices needed for clickbait nirvana.
