Q2 original thumb support slips out of hot shot shoe - tips to tighten hot shoe?

Hi all,

I bought the Leica Thumb Support because I did not like how the Match Technical one blocks camera functionality, but the Leica one slips into the hot shoe quite easily and when I put my thumb into the rest it slips out slightly. Which is quite annoying. I was wondering if anybody had a tip on how to make the hot shoe springs more snug? I can't see a way to take the spring out and bend it up.

Personally, I wouldn't tinker with the springs.  Just wedge a sliver off a toothpick under the thumb support and slide it in.

Hi, 

I also have the Q2 Thumbrest from Leica and it fits absolutely snug. Easy and snug to slip in and not moving when taking it and not having any fear to lose it. 

So it seems, according to your description, that there is an unfortunate accumulation of tolerances. I would double check with another one.

on my Q I used a small piece of electrical tape on the thumbs up to tighten it into the hotshoe

I did the same on mine and it's still there keeping the support in place.

Frankly, for a long-term solution I would buy another rather than try to jam something between the thumb-support.  I have 3 and none move so something must have happened to the grip or hot-shoe.

I just bought one and really a must have for Q2. It slipped on snug and firm. Loose hotshoe usually associate with the loose spring inside hotshoe, and some even lost them to begin with.
