Suddenly, yesterday, I could no longer use my 10-R.

I get this error message:

"Attention   SD Card Protected"

I have made sure my SD card was set correctly. No. Same error message. I changed SD cards. Same error. I checked to  confirm the firmware is up to date. Same error. Re-formatted a card. Same. It's locked and I can no longer use it.

Any thoughts or ideas to try before I bring the camera into Repair?

Is there a physical toggle to write protect SD cards a la floppies? Don’t have one in front of me to verify but would guess whatever checks for this in the sd reader in the camera is obstructed (or broken). Maybe try blowing some air at it / cleaning.

Though don’t know exactly what cleaning would entail.

RESETTING THE CAMERA TO FACTORY SETTINGS
This function allows you to reset all your custom menu settings back to the factory settings. You can optionally exclude the user profiles, WLAN settings, and image numbering from the reset individually.
▸ Select Reset Camera in the main menu
• The prompt Reset camera to basic settings? appears.
▸ Confirm or reject the reset to factory settings (Yes) / (No)
• Selecting No will cancel the reset and the display will return to
the main menu. Confirming with Yes will trigger additional prompts regarding the settings you can opt to keep.
▸ Confirm or reject keeping the user profiles (Yes) / (No)
▸ Confirm or reject keeping the WLAN settings (confirm Yes) /
(reject No)
▸ Confirm or reject keeping the image numbering (Yes)/ (No)
• The camera will be reset.
Notes
• Date & time, as well as the preferred language will have to be set up again after a reset. Relevant prompts will appear on screen.
• The image file numbering can also be reset separately via the menu item Image Numbering (see p. 115).

If it were me....

I doubt this is software related this.  The switch is electro-mechanical.  You can look right inside the SD card slot a see the little write protect switch.  I'd reach in with a plastic dental pick and fiddle with it a bit.  Maybe blow some air in too; might have got something stuck in there.

I do believe it is physical.  I will check, look at the switch, blow on it. Thanks.

...OK, I blew air in the SD Card slot. That fixed it!

Glad to hear! Wierd that some dust made it so sensitive. Enjoy it
