Artichoke Posted October 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I picked up a Telyt 560 f5.6 lens as a bargain from KEH and while its body is a bit beat up, the lens delivers sharp images given that this month's full moon is said to be the brightest in years, I thought I would give it a go with this venerable lens & the Viso ...this is the best moon shot I have taken the clarity and crater details surprised me & I want to share this with you all a larger version and shooting details can be found here moon late October photo - Artichoke Vinagrette photos at pbase.com hope you like
Advertisement Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Hi Artichoke, Take a look here shooting the moon with an M8 . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Hookeye Posted October 28, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2007 That is really impressive. I just love the crater details from the 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock position with that incidental light. A nice 3-d effect too. Can you see the Apollo 11 moon lander and the flag if you do a 100% crop (LOL). Thanks for posting!

albert Posted October 28, 2007 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2007 Good one Arthur.....It was called the "Hunter Moon" by our local weathermen.
carylwithay Posted October 28, 2007 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2007 That is great. I wish I had a lens like that. I shoot the moon all the time with my Nikon and a 400mm lens but on the M8, I use a 90mm. It comes out but very small. Caryl
Artichoke Posted October 29, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted October 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have read that this lens is really nothing more than a telescope and it does not do so well at the edges I have found that with the M8 that is less of a problem & of course for photographs of the moon the edges aren't all that important anyway ...I did a BW conversion from the DNG using jfi labs TMax 100 profile in C4 beta which seemed to yield me the greatest detail and best contrast for this photograph glad you liked it
