Ok, folks. That’s enough name calling and fighting, thanks very much.

Maybe reprimand the one who's actually being abusive directly? All I ever wanted to do was share my actual experience with the actual software and hardware, but I got abused and told I didn't know what I was talking about, then my posts demonstrating that I was correct (that were, albeit rather sarcastic) were deleted, but the original was left intact.

I would have thought that a Mod asking for some politeness would have been enough.

If you report the post that you take objection to, I will sort it appropriately. This is the 337th post in this thread.

My order for the SL2s and Sl 50 f2 Summicron kit lens from last week is not yet shipped. There seems to be a delay from Leica Wholesale. Wholesale is different to the advice on the Leica retail Shop which lists the products "in stock". Was hoping for a quick turn around however not the case with regards to Leica Wholesale and the structure of the cash back deal.

I can't in all my sixty something years believe that I feel like I am "waiting for Christmas" in anticipation, especially for the lens.

I just received a second SL2-S after waiting 5 weeks... so they must be selling like gangbusters...

Not sure I can wait 5 weeks Robb that is terrible. At least yours is a back up for work? Good luck to Leica if their deal for the SL and Kit is going great, that is good news for all of us and the future of Leica etc .

That’s the hard part about loving what a small company does (if you agree Leica is small compared to the big photo guys).  I’m planning two trips to some ice, one in August and I just sent some gear to get a CLA (not leica gear) and I’m waiting with anticipation that it will be back in time!

If not already mentioned, the Red Dot Forum, Miami guys, are doing a Camera Talk episode tomorrow (3/11 8pm EST) on these two lenses.

This is the episode I need. I want to decide on which SL2-S bundle to get :)

Love the system.  2 SL2 and 2 SL2-s .  I also have a 50 apo on order.  Been waiting also 5 weeks.  New ones seem to be out everywhere.

I’m def hanging in there.  Wish they were faster with delivery from the warehouse stockpile.  They must be working overtime at this point replenishing the shortfall.

First shot with SL2S and SL APO 35. My Leica store manager Robin, dropped off a loaner. How good is that for a Sunday!! Can't believe I dont have to wait and hcan get started on some projects. He did however "have" to put the Apo 35 on and that is h]going to tempt me. It's a used lens and a few thousand less than new price.

Testing here for low light and 6400 iso f2 and 1/500 - my blender jug is the most important piece of equipment for my morning smoothies

@Ken: Oh, oh, I See trouble on the horizon 😄 The 35 Apo is such a great lens, especially if you have a tested used one on your camera. I am not absolutely sure that this one might not stick ;)

For the time it will definitely shorten the wait, and yes, that‘s a great service!

Without intention to influence the decision. SL35-APO is a remerkable lens that has been more or less constantly attached to my SL2-S.

Yes, and I have just watched the Red Dot video on the 35 SL Apo Wow, ! I have the lens until my SL2s and 50 SL Summicron Asph kit shows up. I will undoubtably not give it back. It's not a lens that works with my street photography work, it can but not in the same way. And I have t get my head around the noise of the focussing system. I am already sold on the 35 APO - he is a good salesman who estimates his clients well

I couldn’t watch the whole thing, but my take home is that, compared to the P35/1.8 and P50/18, the new Leica ASPH lenses have a more premium housing and probably better weather sealing because they lack an AF/MF switch. Surprisingly, there was no difference in AF performance, if anything the Panasonic lenses were a little better. The Leica lenses were better centered, an indication of better QA during assembly. Otherwise, there wasn’t any real differences from their comparisons. If you go with the Panasonic, check your copy and be prepared to exchange if necessary. No such worries if you go with the Leica.

About a year I got the Sigma 35/2 over the P35/1.8 and haven’t seen anything yet that would tempt me to switch, despite the lack of weather sealing.

Fully agree. That 35 Sigma is lovely to use on SL cameras. The new 35 and 50 from Leica are very welcome as far as I’m concerned, early signs seem positive; and, to me at least (and assuming the Panasonic link is true) it appears to be good example of the L-Mount Alliance working as it should. I’ve already bought the Sigma i Contemporary 24 f3.5, 35 f2 and 45 f2.8. Adapting my Summicron-M 50 and Summarit-M 75 means I’m not looking to swap anything out. I’m a bit old school and prefer an aperture ring, but, if I were buying my SL2-s now, adding one of these new Leica SL asph Summicrons would be a great proposition.

I just got my hands on the Summicron SL 50mm ASPH on Sunday as I wanted something lighter and cheaper than the APO version.  Didn't get the Panny 50/F1.8 as it felt too plasticky as compared to the Leica version.  Overall, I'm happy with it as it is so light....

What caught my eye(as well as my wife) was the bokeh  as well as the size.  It balances perfectly on the SL or CL bodies and it's small enough for my wife to carry around unlike the SL zooms.

Wonder if Leica will make a similarly sized 75 & 90mm ASPH in the future.

…or maybe a 85mm Summicron ASPH😁. The bokeh is definitely different from the APO and is some ways better.

...it's a dream in combination with SL2-S Reporter!

and yes, Bokeh is wonderful.

Maybe we will get a 85mm version .- because of the corresponding Panasonic lens, time will tell
