costa43 Posted February 2, 2023 Share #1  Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I'm after an orange filter for my Canon 35mm f2 ltm lens. It's proving difficult to source, so thought I'd reach out and see if anyone has any recommendations. I'm also happy with a step up/down ring if necessary. Just something that fits! Thank you Costa Edit : its a 40mm filter thread I believe. Edited February 2, 2023 by costa43

Pyrogallol Posted February 2, 2023 Share #2  Posted February 2, 2023 Get a cheap 40 to 40.5mm stepup ring. 40.5mm filters are common. Welcome, dear visitor! peterm1_Leica Posted February 4, 2023 Share #8 Â Posted February 4, 2023 I agree with the step-up ring option. It's a relatively easy way to find both filters and hoods that work with any lens. (I say "relatively" easy because sometimes it is hard to find specific step-up rings). I do this a lot - especially with hoods. I have a number of lenses for LTM / Leica M) which include the following: 39mm (of course), 40mm (Canon), 40.5 (most other European lenses other than Leica), 41mm (Leica Summarit) etc. So for me it makes sense to buy one stepping ring for each lens type and one hood that works with all of them then this is a good outcome. BTW 43mm thread hoods work well with many lenses mentioned above because they are big enough to fit on any of the above lenses but small enough not to look weird when you have mounted them. I would do something of the same sort with filters.
david strachan Posted February 4, 2023 Share #9  Posted February 4, 2023 (edited) The 40 to 40.5 mm step ups are often made of aluminium, not much better brass (aluminium tends to "bind"). I have a couple because i use several Canon lenses on my M's. Do not overtighten, and a minute smear of "nose oil" or vaseline will make for easier removal. ...
