I promise this isn’t one of those should I wait for the next next camera threads!

I shot with an m6 for years and recently got a q2-m and am lusting after an m10-m but keep reading about how poor it’s battery life is (cipa 210) and wanted to hear from actuall range finger users what is realistic.

With my q2m, I use evf extended and never look at the lcd (it’s taped over), battery lasts about a week of light daily use.

For m10 users that don’t use live view / an evf what’s a realistic battery use?

edit. Also has anyone found alternative batteries as there were for the original m10. The Leica tax on batteries is entirely unjustified for an item that will not last.

It's not as bad as some make it out to be, as long as you don't drain it with the EVF or Visoflex, and have it set to sleep when not in use. One extra battery would suffice as backup unless you were using it in a pro mode and shooting upwards of a thousand images in a day. No third party batteries are available for the M10 as they were for the M9/M8, but you can often find them for sale lightly used or cutout if patient and wanting to save a few $.

Nice to hear.  Purchased a second hand 35 summicron, now on the hunt for an affordable m10-m, prices are currently very high.  Hopefully the m11-m is around the corner and prices will fall.  I'm happy to play the long game.

Found a second hand 10-m, came with a used battery, bought one more new one. Considered getting two but want to see what real world usage is like before bothering to. Also spreading out the cost a little makes it feel less painful.

Sadly won’t actually have the camera in my hands for about a month.

I haven’t used mine enough to get more than a general feel.

At the moment, I think a day of walking around shooting using only RF and occasional brief rear screen chimping or menu access would probably be one battery. I’d always carry a second.

My Nikon D3 series cameras were easily capable of 2000+ shots per charge. Batteries seem to be getting worse rather than better since then!

I just learned the charger has a 12v input to use with a car charger, so you could use something like this https://www.amazon.com/Farsense-Adapter-Converter-Supports-Indicator/dp/B09NSHWLV9/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=usb+to+12v+adapter&qid=1675529476&sr=8-4 to charge from a usb battery/source.

Really opens up your options!
