Hello. I updated the Profoto Connect Pro for Leica to B1, just released in March 2023. I'm using it on an M10 with a 90mm Summicron APO at 1/125 with a Profoto B1 with a white Softlight modifier. I can say that The TTL exposures are okay from f/2-f/4. When I try f/5.6 the power which should be 9 dips to 3. I can remedy it by manually setting the power. I'm awaiting Leica's M10 series firmware update to include HSS.

Okay so today I was shooting, and thought I had my non-ttl Connect Pro on the camera, as I was in the studio and knew I wouldn’t need TTL/HSS etc.. I tend to do that as I know the batteries will last longer (okay now that I think about it, shooting in the manual mode on the Leica one is probably the same..). While I was shooting a glitch developed where after 5-10 shots the SL2 would freeze, and I’d have to take the battery out to get it going again. Really weird. Then i noticed the power on my D2 had dipped down to three.. weird..

I’m there trying all the things, restarting Capture One, swapping lenses, restarting the camera, restarting the computer.. All of that.. But then I realise I’m on the Connect Pro for Leica, not the TTL one, so I change to the other trigger (non-ttl), and hey we’re in business and everything is fine. I realised that I’ve hardly actually used the TTL version since the update, as I’ve been mostly in the studio when I’ve been using it.. I checked firmware after, connecting my phone and bringing up the Connect app, and sure enough there was another firmware update. I’m not sure if it was just the one that came out on 20th March (or whenever it was), but I thought i’d chime in and share my experiences to anyone else who just updated their camera, and not the trigger. (Although I feel like I did update the trigger.. maybe..).

It was super weird behaviour, that the trigger would make the camera freeze after five or so frames. Spun me right out. Shows that there’s obviously a lot of communication going on between the devices.

One other thing I noticed was that when I swapped to the non-ttl trigger, was that I had to do my disable exposure preview thing, whereas on the Connect Pro for Leica it’s obviously telling the body it’s there, and adjusts the preview automatically. Cool.

Same issue for me, i've written to profoto, waiting for an answer

Same problem with my new connect pro for leica. In manual the power drop to 2.5 (B10p) I have write to profoto but reading this thread I have no hope they had fix this issue. I lost half the today sessions. I cannot have an assistant seeing if the power change. Connecto in A1 mode, XSync off, always manual, at syncro speed... ¿430 euros for a trigger wich do not make its job? ¿What had did the rest of the photographers with this issue? I thing I will return the connectopro and will be thinking change from profoto to broncolor.

This is a little kinda.....

When looking for this issue in google I only find THIS thread and a lot of articles sayng "¡Hey, a new trigger for leica!" and "a lot of information" on the trigger... but no body talks about the problem... so those all "reviews" actually had no shooted with the connect pro, only know what profoto has said in their press notes.

Very upset with profoto.

there was a FW update about two weeks ago to a B FW, where the problem  with Leica SL cameras was mentioned in the release notes; also the Leica Update to 5.1

I cannot find a firmware update for the trigger....

You need the app on your phone from profoto.  Then when you connect to the unit through Bluetooth, you can update the firmware in the connect pro trigger…

Don’t know what to tell you.  Just have to wait a bit more I guess.

my unit updated new firmware couple weeks ago.  Seems to be fine now.  Maybe they discovered some new bugs…

send them an email.

How’s everyone going with this? I’d forgotten about it, and I tried using my Connect pro the other day, and all of a sudden the camera started locking up.. And I realised after a minute it was what the Connect pro.. I swapped to the non ttl one i have (i realise now I could have just switched it to X mode) and it was fine, but I had to take the battery out of the SL2 to make it work again. Super frustrating.

Also, making me realise that I’ve still barely used the very expensive trigger that I bought LAST YEAR that still doesn’t work properly. Amazing.

Hello all.. Not sure if anyone’s still reading this thread, but my Connect Pro made my camera freeze up AGAIN the other day, which means that it’s basically whenever I try to use it.

I was scratching my head trying to figure out why it’s happening, especially since I tested it when the update came out and it was fine, and it’s occurred to me that the one thing that was different was that when I was testing it I was shooting to card, and when I’ve tried to use it on jobs and it’s made the camera lock up, I’ve been tethering to Capture One. Has anyone tried shooting in the TTL (auto) mode (or even just not X mode) while tethering?

It's always been the case with the SL for flash to work. The shutter needs to be set to set to mechanical.

I accidentally discovered that if my SL2 has the shutter set for electronic shutter, the Profoto will not flash. I had to reset the shutter to mechanical shutter.
