Taken yesterday on the ferry returning to Tiburon from Angel Island in San Francisco Bay. Processed in Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro 2. I do like the High Structure (smooth) preset in SFX—it creates a look I'm not quite able to replicate in Lightroom—but it also adds artifacts so that the gray tones aren't as clean as they are in a file processed in Lightroom alone. I guess everything in life's a trade-off 😉

Even though I could see the difference between the hues and brightness of the fern and the clover when taking this shot in a redwood forest in Northern California, the grayscale tones looked very similar on the image straight out of the camera. I was able to get this separation of tones by using the Tone Curve in Lightroom. In this case, processing made all the difference.
