I haven't seen too many bargains for sale in the Classifieds, though I have bought a camera and a lens at fair prices (fair to buyer and seller).

Living in post-Brexit UK, I bought the camera from an EU country, consigned to my daughter in Brussels, where I picked it up; I bought the lens from another non-EU country and it came through the regular post (and was untaxed on import!).

What you can get (and did get in my case) was the reassurance that comes from buying from a regular member: they don't want to see their reputation trashed here, and you can read something about their personality into their posts. I would be cautious about buying from someone with only a handful of posts.

Ebay is great but it will be difficult for selling expensive items if you don't have a good feedback track record. Also if you aren't used to ebay you are wide open to being scammed!

If you don't find a buyer here via the classifieds the other option is to sell through a dealer near you who operates on a commission basis.

MPB is my usual dump for non-Leica stuff I want to get rid of.  They have always offered a fair price via the online form and payment is immediate once they’ve inspected the goods and their quote has been accepted.

I sold a late f1 Noctilux via the classifieds on here a few years ago, the transaction was fine and I’d use the forum again for selling Leica equipment should I ever decide to let anything else go.

I do not use Ebay for selling anything of high value and I will only send to a genuine UK address.  Several years ago I had a couple of bad experiences with non-paying bogus buyers and one near hysterical Chinese buyer who hadn’t done his homework and tried to blame me for the (genuine) shipping cost of sending a Nikon dslr to China.

If I buy anything off Ebay, which is very rare these days, I try to buy only from UK Sellers I trust and have previously bought from.
