As so often I'd forgotten to set the lens detection and as I'd also been using my 21mm I wasn't 100% sure which it was. Pretty certain now that it was the 28 though. I'm very pleased with it - results are beautiful and I also find its handling better than the tiny Asph. It's version 4. Oh, and as my copy's cosmetics are a little scruffy I made a bit of money on the deal, which never hurts. 😀 That's been my favorite wide for a long, long time. I just got mine back from Leica NJ where they did a CLA and the lens functions like new.

It's a keeper I think; for 18 months I had virtually stopped using the 28 asph while I discovered the pleasures of the 35mm FL, but that's going to change now. Here's another pic from it, again with orange filter. On the original full-fat file you can count every brick on the tower - should you have nothing better to do. 🙂 Welcome, dear visitor! downstairs Posted September 20, 2019 Share #2550 Posted September 20, 2019 While I'm at it. MM1+Cron-50mm-Apo. Also shot, just to check, on TriX 8x10 and on a demo PhaseOne-Monochome. The Leica version just looks smoother. That saved me from selling the farm to get the PhaseOne Mono. Welcome, dear visitor! colint544 Posted September 24, 2019 Share #2559 Posted September 24, 2019 Out with friends the other night, and only had my M Monochrom mk1 and 1960 copy of the 35mm Summaron F2.8. Was past dusk, almost night when I snapped this row of flats. 2500 ISO, 2.8 on the lens, and 1/20th of a second, hand held. That Summaron is such a lovely little lens. Nice to have the option of a brand new camera, 40,000 ISO, and a super fast lens, but sometimes it's fun to have more limited options, and the challenge of getting a result (as long as it's not for a client!) I have a friend who keeps trying to sell me on the new Sony cameras which essentially turn photography into a point & shoot process. Twenty frames per second, autofocus that just about can't miss, super high res. For me, it's a lot more satisfying to have to put some effort into getting a good image and to be in total control of the process.
