One of my favorite events here in my city is a program called "Jazz At 5." On Wednesdays throughout the late summer a downtown street is closed off, tables and chairs are set up, and people get to come and listen to great jazz--all free. This week we heard Ben Sidran (on piano), who also happens to live here. Lighting was a bit tricky because the crowd was bathed in late afternoon sun and the musicians were in the shade. M7, Nocti (mostly at f/1.4), Fuji Velvia 50.

Hi Brent, nice shots. Favourite is the second one. The first is sooo close, but spoiled by the foliage covering the hat IMHO.

If you're ever in Paris in summer there's a similar thing in one of the parks. I saw Erik Trufaz and E.S.T. there for the princely sum of 1 Euro admission to the park.

Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like a very good reason to go to Paris. I've got to do that!!

Thanks for the program, Steve. That really sounds like a great time to me. Maybe next year the Challenge could be timed to coincide? And 3 Euros. That's crazy.

Dan-Thanks much. The Nocti does work well with this kind of shooting. I didn't use any fill but I probably would have if I'd taken my SF-20.
