Hello,
I opened my dream camera M11-m but I have the same problem. not charging :(

  • Please use the provided cable
  • Make sure the USB source has enough of juice - there are different USB standards- if your USB charger does not have enough current output - it will not charge.

Does any know if there is a third part charger one can use for M11 batteries?   I prefer external to in camera charging, but don't have a dock with my used M11.

New is a crazy £135, so either good third party option, unless someone wants to sell their M11 charger dock?!

Thanks - do you have a link to where to buy?  I can’t find any third party BC-7SCLS  for M11

I found two for you, one is a dual charger. I have never used that company before so maybe you want to give them a try and report back?

I’ve just taken delivery of an M11D and seem to be experiencing many of the same problems described above - and maybe some new ones! Once I’d unpacked the camera  I plugged in the supplied USB cable and saw the slowly flashing green light on the base plate. So far, so good I thought. This was in the late morning. I was a little concerned that the light was still flashing when I went to bed that evening, but I thought it best to leave it overnight. The following morning the light had gone out. Thinking this indicated that the battery was charged I turned the camera on. I had attached a 50mm lens so very briefly saw the framelines but also a flashing ‘bc’ indicator. Then everything disappeared. So the battery had not charged at all. Next I tried to attach the USB cable to my phone, allowing the camera to use the phone’s battery while I set it up using Leica Fotos and hopefully being able to install any firmware upgrades that might fix the charging problem. I was able to pair my phone to the camera and was asked if I wanted to upgrade the firmware. During this process there was a message that a problem had occurred after which everything went dead. All that I have now is a reading in the bottom of the viewfinder ‘8:88’. I have emailed Leica but have only received an automated reply.

1. You need an USB power source with sufficient amps

2 The battery must be fully charged before update but it sounds like the connection to the app failed during the update. A phone battery is too weak to supply power to the phone and the camera at the same time. Far safer to update using an SD card. And the camera plugged into a hefty charger

I thought if the battery isnt sufficient, the upgrade process will be refused?

Thanks, I appreciate your suggestion.

My initial attempt to charge the battery was with the supplied USB cable and an adaptor into the mains supply. This didn’t work. I will obviously need to sort this out before dealing with the firmware update. Seems like Catch 22.

Yes, perhaps that is why I received the error message when I tried to upgrade. My problem now is that the camera apppears to have completely shut down, only displaying ‘8:88’ in the bottom of the viewfinder. At the moment all I have is a very expensive paperweight.

Yes, but the adapter must be powerful enough. Anyway, your dealer should replace the camera.

If it's brand new then take it back to the shop. Give them a chance to sort it out overnight or so and if they can't insist on a refund or money back?

I actually tried several different adaptors - none of which have ever given me any problem. Leica have replied to my email and allocated me a case number. I will wait to hear what they would like to do next
