When I have sent my M9 off to Germany via the Leica Store in Mayfair they have always wanted to have just the camera - no extras (strap, thumbgrip, etc). So I think it very unlikely they'd want the box - I'd just take the camera and probably a receipt. I returned an M240 via the supplying dealer in the U.K., and from recollection they recommended that I remove the battery as well. If you think they can arrange a straight replacement at the shop, then they'll presumably want everything (though in this case, of course, there's a chance the new camera may have the same problem). As others have mentioned, they do not want the box or anything. Also take the battery out (but reattach the battery cover). The scratching for me isn't as bad as some others have posted, it seems intermittent. I've run a film through and removed it without developing and I can see a faint line intermittently down across the film. Originally I noticed it in some scans maybe 40pc. I can at home, the odd thing is the first 8 rolls I never noticed it at all, and when I have gone back to look at those negs the line is very very intermittent, maybe 10pc and didn't show up at all on scans. The only thing I've changed is when I load I pre tightened the film in the cannister to get instant feedback so I know it's winding on OK. I didn't do that when I first got the camera. So I wondered if pre tightening the film in the cannister has somehow made the issue worse. As I said it's not continous on scans or on undeveloped film. But I guess neither is it ideal! Mikep996 Posted March 24, 2023 Share #991 Posted March 24, 2023 Frankly, if I wanted a new M6, I'd wait until July/August before ordering one to (hopefully) ensure the "bad" cameras were flushed out of the dealer inventory/Leica production. This tells you that Leica just cares about selling you the product, not taking care of their customers after the sale. The repair is replacing the old pressure plate with a new (hopefully good) one. SIX MONTHS Is your camera under warranty? Demand an exchange/replacement. 6-months might as well be never. Where does the 6 weeks come from (not sure where you live)? When Leica failed to repair the shutter on my 6 month old M240, the dealership asked me to drop it off so they send it to Leica for 2nd attempt. The idea of taking it to a third party for repair is a potential I guess, no idea who would be able to sort it in the UK though? Just six months!
