Hi all,

I am in the dilemma, which of my lenses should be used on which body (by default). I own the 35Lux FLE and a Voigtlander Nokton 35mm 1.4 MC V2.

Of course, for me the FLE is the lens! But as I do not want to switch the lens whenever I pick the M11 or M6 I am wondering which lens to put on which body as default (of course for special occasions that can be planned, I switch to the FLE).

How do you tackle this?

Thanks,
J

Generally I tend to combine the more vintage camera with the lens that gives me more of a vintage look. So I guess in this case the Voigtlander + M6.

If one of the lenses has a faster aperture (not the case here) I would put the faster lens on the analog body as you can't crank up the ISO so easily with an analog camera 😉

Tx.

best,

Andreas

You said it's a "planned" event. This means, with two bodies, you can choose which lens to put on which body prior to leaving.  My advice is - depending on the "plan" - put the "preferred" lens on the body (film or digital) that is going to be your primary, prior to heading out. By default, the other lens goes on the other body.  Of course, the way I would handle it would be to put your favorite 35, for that shoot, on your primary body for your plan, and put a 50mm on the other body. That way on your secondary body you have a different focal length to work with. If the plans change, switch lenses.  Changing lenses is not a burden, that's how they designed the system.  Otherwise, if your averse to changing lense, get fixed-lens bodies starting with the Q2. That way you can keep your 35s on your M6 and 11 and have a wider FL with the Q.

It depends on the situation like others have said but the FLE is great on film. Actually I tend to prefer it more on film than digital. I also like vintage lenses, some from the 1950's on digital since I like digital for the convenience and less for the modern ultra sharp look. Personal opinions of course.

Thanks for all the responses and inspiration so far!

After thinking this through I came to a similar opinion like @archive_all having the CV 35 Nokton by default on the M11 to reduce a bit the perfect, clinical look and on the M6 the other way around with the super sharp FLE.

Might want to replace the CV maybe later by a 50mm vintage cron/lux to also vary a bit more with the focal lengths…

I would go the total opposite, vintage lens on film, modern lens on digital.

I have just recently acquired a 35 steel rim and the look it gives on my MP is just incredible. It's nice on digital but it doesn't have the same appeal to me.

I like the look of "vintage" lenses on digital (M10M and M11) but the FLE gives you so much more flexibility in terms of post processing latitude as well as possibility to crop.
