andybarton Posted May 20, 2024 Share #83 Posted May 20, 2024 Heathrow T3 have new CT scanners in fast track. I didn’t have an opportunity to ask about hand checking film, but the staff there this morning were friendly and helpful and did feel the need to check my wife’s backpack and analyse some shower gel. williamj Posted November 20, 2024 Share #84 Posted November 20, 2024 FYI I was at Brisbane Domestic airport and they have now got body scanners although they still say that belongings are scanned using X-Rays.
jay83091 Posted April 26 Share #85 Posted April 26 Dubai T3 international. Refused hand check and after going through the machines, the security pointed at my films and said “now expired” how nice of them 1

lincoln_m Posted June 25 Share #88 Posted June 25 (edited) Every time I go through Security at Amsterdam Schiphol they pull my bag aside to check my film Ms for explosives. Last year it was my M2 and this year my M7. It looks like the brass body shows up black on the CT Scanner. The consequence is that they put the tray with my day pack (hand luggage only) on a separate scanner, from the main CT tunnel, while the swab is being processed. I'm guessing that my films are getting yet another scan while the guy is checking that he's not missed anything in my bag? The M7 was just solid black on the screen that I could see over the other side of the tray roller/belt. Oh! and I fell foul of the body scanners because although I'd emptied my pockets, removed my belt, I didn't take off my wooden Thor's Hammer (Mjolnir) pendant which came up as black on the (Sound wave??) body scanner not X-Rays the guy said (maybe it's ultrasound??). He then said he needed to do a "hand search of me" (a frisk/pat down) while he stood facing me. My pat down continued, finishing with a check the inside back of my waistband of my (no belt now) jeans. Then he said "You're all done!" And he finished off by, Giving me a Wedgie !! Basically pulling my pants and jeans up over my waist, sort of as you might do when dressing your small kids, putting on their leggings. I was a little shocked I can tell you. I'm glad I didn't say something like that "You should buy me a drink first!", or "I don't usually go to second base on a first date!" I guess they are searching for a shiv if the body scanner shows wood (or maybe plastic) as black on the body scanner? I forgot to mention Kodak Ektar 100 this time. I'm scanning the negs now. They seem OK (well correctly exposed shots are) for the first film that was 6 months out of date but kept in the fridge since purchase. Edited June 25 by lincoln_m Missed important film stock info.
