ausdlk Posted November 25, 2022 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Using the Leica SF24D and an M10, when I half-press the shutter release the live view on the LCD almost completely blacks out. This only happens when the flash is ON. It doesn't matter if the flash is in M, A, or TTL mode, It doesn't matter if the flash mode in the camera is set to beginning of or end of exposure (first curtain or second curtain). This completely defeats the use of LV with a flash. Is this a known issue and/or am I missing something? Thanks. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 Hi ausdlk, Take a look here M10 LV blackout on shutter half-press with FLASH. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mujk Posted November 26, 2022 Share #2 Posted November 26, 2022 My guess is that it's the exposure simulation feature that causes this, indicating a severe underexposure for the current (manual) exposure settings when flash is not in use. At least this is exactly how my M10 behaves with a non-Leica flash and manual settings on the camera. I don't have a Leica flash that works with camera-controlled flash exposure so I don't know how it behaves in that case.
Luke_Miller Posted November 26, 2022 Share #3 Posted November 26, 2022 I believe mujk is correct. I don't have the M10, but my Nikon Z6 and Leica SL do the same thing unless I turn off exposure simulation when using flash.
