He he i could be your father Conrad (could i? 1946) but i don't like sharp things in the OOF personally. Anyway sharper lens than the 80/1.4 but smoother than the 90/2A if i understand well. This pre-asph 90 could well be for me.

Well, LCT, I guess that technically you could be but that would mean you would have been a very fast worker... ;)

Good choice on the 90 f/2 Summicron-R, enjoy!

Cheers,

It seems LCT has decided on the 35, 50, & 90 ...
A classic M3 setup ... now LCT will need three framelines.

Ha ha! you've used SLRs too much Simon. 35 needed goggles on the M3. Its 3 framelines were 50, 90 and 135 as you will recall when you stop to mock this poor old LCT :p;)

Can't beat you on this one, LCT ... I see you're still a rangefinder guy at heart ... now this is the impression gathered from the OLD Leica forum, even when I did post much at all. LOL

Cheers!

I have the following lenses:

19mm

28mm

50mm f2

100mm macro

70-180mm f2.8

280 modular

400 modular

1.4 ext

2.0 ext

If Leica doesn't have a digital R future I will sell everything.

For selfish reasons I might wish for no Leica digital future. How much are you selling the modulars for?;)

I have:

35mm Elmarit-R (last)

60mm Macro

90mm 'cron

100 APO

80-200 f/4

280 f/4 APO

400mm f/6.8

560mm f/6.8

1.4x APO

If there were no Leica digital future my DMR will still work... but there is no doubt in my mind that Leica will produce a digital successor to the DMR, that existing lenses will be compatible with it, and that the image quality it can produce will be spectacular.

I wouldn't hold your breath Doug. :-) I love Leica and its glass and I certainly don't WANT to get rid of the glass. But, at some point my DMR will fail and at some point there won't be any of them around so, if at that point, there is no digital option I will have to sell for common sense reasons. Film isn't going to be here and even if it is processing and scanners will be hard to find. Just the way it is.

In the April 2007 LFI interview, page 26, Steve Lee said

"The R crowd are the most die-hard Leica fans of all... The R system needs to be the very best, the cream of the crop, and it has to stay that way. And I can tell you that there's a lot of room for improvement in terms of performance and handling. There's more R experience to be had. The R is a manual focus camera, so we've got to do something about that. The R of today is a big camera with an add-on digital back. We've got to do something about that, too!"

I think we should keep our glass (damn it, Doug, I need my 1.4 back!)

Tim, I agree. Except the part about sending the 1.4 back :D

Gary, given that Mr. Lee is a long-time R user I believe that patience will be well-rewarded.

Our patience (R users) has always been rewarded in the past. It will again be in the future. That said, I don't really need to wait for anything per se since I got my DMR etc.... :)

R lenses are worth almost next to nothing now.

And that is a very interesting point as the new ones are priced at astronomical prices. How can they sell (assuming they are) a 70-180 for $7,500 when their is no demand. Makes no sense to me.

Hi there,

own for 2 decades some R-Bodies with

2/35

2/90 (sold for: Apo 100)

3,4/180

and just because I want to do much more photography in the future than I did in the last years

AND ALSO because the prices went next nothing at all indeed.. :)

I bought in the last 9 months for using it just to the end of my life also:

19 new version

21-35 Vario

28 PC-SA

Apo 2,8/180

Apo 2,8/280

Extender 1,4

Extender 2,0

a Berlebach Pro-Tripod,

MAcro-Gear

and some expensive Filters for my Leica glasses.

To my pleasure, it seems that I bought near to the all-time-low prices and though I spent nevertheless still lots of money, I am very happy with my decision and a longtime dream of me turned to reality (Wouldn´t never even have thought about buying a Apo 2,8/280 in the former times.. ) .

will buy also a 15mm and than I will wait relaxed for the R-10 using meanwhile a Canon 5D. Should the R-10 be a truely exeptional gear, would the early adopters report that the then last version of firmware has no more bugs and would there are no problems concerning magenta ( or the at-that-time favorite colour of the R&D-responsible :D ) I will perhaps switch back to the first real DSLR-Leica-Body.

If not: I can live with other fine Bodies...

For "fast" photography an E1 with the AF 14-54 already serves me well.

Dirk
