Well, the M11 does have some IR contamination.

Tested this scene below.

Almost mid-day sun in Swakopmund, Namibia. We are currently in winter, so probably on the lower IR intensity of the year.

Test scene was an old laptop bag, made from synthetic material, which is usually the easiest material to identify IR contamination with.

M11 with Zeiss Planar 50mm. ISO 64, 1/180sec f/5.6.

White balance was set on the same WB squares in Lightroom for both images. Open images to see them larger at 2048px size.

First shot no filter.

Second, with LeicaUV/IR filter.

Not surprising but actually rather good for an M camera. I also see the yellowing of the green in the grass.
I’m sure that you will need IR filters should you be out in your desert. The sand reflects/intensifies the IR content of the sunlight.

Hard to find these Leica UV/IR filters. I'm concerned that the B+W IR Cut filters are too cyan, or much more so than the Leica filters and that the effect would be too strong.

Unless someone has the B+W UV-IR Cut #486 MRC Filter that can report on its colour.

The image from B&H looks quite cyan.

I always use B&W No ill colour effects as far as I can see. The cyan is just the coating. Look at another angle and it is red. The Leica filters are most likely by Marumi.

Ok, thank you! So the B+W UV-IR Cut #486 is clear with blue/red coatings?

Same here. I have both Leica and B&W and see no difference.
