M10 LV screen switches off when ltm lens mounted?

Hello

Just bought a used M10, my first digital Leica. Very pleased, works great, except my favourite lens is a Jupiter-8 LTM, which cost me £65, I just love the images out of this cheap little lens which I've used a lot on my M6.

Anyhow, pics are great, but if I press the LV button the LV stays on for a second or three, then goes blank. I think I got a message at some point saying no lens attached when going through menus I think, but only seen that twice.

I'm using a Visoflex 2 sometimes, and it's the same with that as well. Makes no difference whether it's attached or not.

I bet there's a simple solution but dammed if I can see it.

Any ideas anyone?

Thank you

PS. forgot to say....the LV & Visoflex 2 both work fine with my 2 M-mount Voigtlander lenses.

Would switching off lens detection help?

From M10 manual (page 150)

Quote

Setting the function
1. Select the menu item Lens Detection,

2. in the sub-menu the desired version:
– OFF, or
– Auto , if a coded Leica M lens is attached, or
– Manual M/Manual R, if a non-coded Leica M lens is attached/a Leica R lens is being used with a Leica R Adapter M (available as an accessory, for further details, refer to the adapter instructions).

Notes:
• When attaching a coded Leica M lens, the camera automatically switches to Auto, even if a different lens had previously been entered in Manual M.
• When using Leica R lenses, the camera automatically switches to Manual R, even if Auto had previosuly been entered.
• When using Leica M lenses without coding, Auto should not be used to avoid malfunctions, i.e. in these cases, the lens type used should always be entered manually.

I've tried setting to OFF instead of Manual which is what I had it set to before. No difference unfortunately.

But what I have discovered is the screen only goes off if you adjust the focus tab. I've tried setting the Focus Aid (or whatever it's called) to both it's available settings, neither makes a difference.

I'll give Red Dot Cameras, where I bought my camera from, a call today, see what they think.

The simple solution is to use a different LTM adapter that has no cutout where the lens detection sensor is located. Your adapter has a cutout at that position, which means the lens detection sensor will not be covered upon mounting the lens and adapter to the camera. The camera therefore thinks there is no lens attached to the camera.

I have the same problem and an adapter is needed without the cutout.  Smaller lenses that don't cover the light detecting cells make the camera think no lens is mounted. Does anyone have an adapter to recommend that doesn't have the cut-out?

Turn lens detection off in the menu.

Rayqual makes a good one. Cameraquest carries them, get the Type III. Here's the one for 50/75mm, they also have the others.
