In the process I'd add some matching alcántara. My MP is already quite brassy in the edges --apparently Solms purposely used a very soft lacquer with precisely that in mind. Not precisely anxious to pimp it but it's an idea that has been nagging me since the a la carte program hit the streets. How much do you think that kind of job would command in the UK? I'd like to take advantage of the favorable £/$/Mx$ exchange rate going on now. Camera Works UK list prices on their website.
RDJ Posted February 22, 2024 Share #43 Posted February 22, 2024 I just bought a Sept 2023 re-paint which Cameraworks-UK refurbished. The paint is described as a semi-gloss black Cerakote (H-109). I understand Cerakote more durable than many paints. The semi gloss surface looks great…not too shiny and the paint is smooth with a tiny sign of orange peel….and I probably overstate the word orange peel. Its likely impossible to have a dead smooth surface. The finish and camera operation are beautiful. Painted black M3 window bumps fade in the background. Fine objects should be kept in original condition until they look ugly. Then its a gift to paint, reskin and restore and release to the universe to be enjoyed again. The import fee based on value is startling to me sitting in the US. I would have sent work to Camerworks but the tariff policy makes it unlikely. I wish UK all the best. Welcome, dear visitor!
