kuchars22 Posted October 19, 2022 Share #1  Posted October 19, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I have two identical Voigtlander Nokton 1.4 MC II lenses - the one on the right appears to have more grease than on the left, in fact, I can't see much grease on the left. The one on the right is also much stiffer to rotate. The one on the left is much easier to rotate, as I prefer it, but if you focus to the infinity hard stop, and slowly back off, there is a slight annoying sticking "jump", missing the focus point, and you have to push focus forwards again towards infinity to regain focus. 1) Please can you comment on the amount of grease on the helicoids on both lenses, does one have too much and the other too little? 2) How do I remedy both the stiffer ring of the right, and the sticky ring of the left? Thanks Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Hi kuchars22, Take a look here 2 identical lenses - do they have too much or too little grease?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted October 19, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted October 19, 2022 My Nokton 35/1.4 SC v2 # 070310** is not greasy but focusing is smooth with no sticky feeling at all. Only way to fix yours is to send them in i fear unless you take the risk to rotate many times the stiff ring with hope it will soften. May happen in my experience with various M lenses but the opposite can be true too and exerting too much force on helicoids may cause some play.

Same level or resistance also, or do you find it stiffens the more there is and vice-versa?

If you see the grease on your camera's sensor after having used the lens - it is too much.
