Advertisement Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Hi geotrupede, Take a look here jupiter-12. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lucerne Posted October 16, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 16, 2022 Short Answer is yes. You will need an adaptor. The Jupiter lens is an M39 screw fit. Do a search for Jupiter 12 to read reviews and see the full specification.
geotrupede Posted October 18, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted October 18, 2022 short answer indeed. do you have it, have you tried, should I believe you? I have M9 and that is ok, but same geometry in the camera for the M11, u sure?
UliWer Posted October 18, 2022 Share #4 Posted October 18, 2022 The Jupiter 12 is a copy of the pre-war version of the Zeiss Biogon 1:2.8/35mm. The Biogon was designed for the Zeiss Ikon Contax, which had a flange to film distance differing from the Leica. The Jupiter was mostly used for the Kiev which was a Soviet version of the Contax. So it is very probable that they didn't adapt the Jupiter for the Leica flange to film distance and focus will not be exact if you use it on the Leica. geotrupede Posted October 18, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted October 18, 2022 (edited) yeah I have one with adapter and on m9 is ok, and i have seen on the M240 on youtube. apparently one could use a spacer to improve focusing as the rangefinder calibration is not compliant with leicas but error can be adjusted across the range of distances... but not sure on the M11. what i am unsure is the shutter position, and not sure how to measure the various elements (as I do not have anything apart a ruler or paper cutout) some evidence based info would be much appreciated 😉 thanks G> PS just to make clear, focus not an issue as can use the viso or simply f16, but the question is more: will the rear element clash with the shutter? Ule Posted October 18, 2022 Share #6 Posted October 18, 2022 My M11 is still fine after an afternoon with the jupiter 12. Nothing clashes. I kept involuntarily opening the aperture of the lens, I wasn‘t too pleased with the experience. And there was nothing spectacular about the images, lens character-wise.
