Jepp… and you do not have to commute to the sun to risk that… 😉

No, the lens has been in a dry cabinet at room temp as long as I have owned it.

To avoid any oil leak or seeping onto the blades during storage, I normally set the aperture to the minima (f16 or f22). In this way, any oil leak will only get onto the base of the blades. 

For the photo posted by the poster I think the aperture was set at f2.4 or f4 during storage. The oil got onto the mid section of the blades.

Just my opinion.
