Huss Posted October 19, 2022 Share #902 Â Posted October 19, 2022 People, we can make it to 50 pages before official release time! Unless this has a fancy x/500 edition written on it somewhere - and not with a sharpie - I am not interested.

Just lke M10-R BP, Summilux 50/1.2 black, M10-P Reporter... Also, I wonder why MADE IN GERMANY is now embossed in the leatherette... Maybe the leatherette is made in Germany while the rest of the camera was made in Portugal.

Yes, I read that.  I know from my dealer that he calls a normal black anodized camera "black paint". Though there is also a rumor about a limited edition of the 28mm Summicron which is also said to be "matte black paint" - but the rumor says it was cheaper than the usual Summicron. We'll have to see whether there is really a new matte black paint finish, or if it is just a so-so description.

logan2z Posted October 19, 2022 Share #907 Â Posted October 19, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm trying to understand where they found all of the Wetzlar elves to crank out 500+ more film cameras when, supposedly, M-As and MPs have only been trickling out of the factory. However, accurate exposure metering is still possible at that point. If the batteries are too weak to guarantee the camera’s electronic exposure metering function, the battery-shaped LED only lights up while the shutter release button is pressed down to the pressure point, or the displays disappear altogether."

UliWer Posted October 19, 2022 Share #912 Â Posted October 19, 2022 Well this "new" camera is an MP - with just a few changes for the outward design.

Are there any differences internally?

Same with the 50mm Summilux asph. with "retro" housing: no different lens as the glass and the optical design are the same. Â

Personally, I can't think of a single reason to buy this camera over an MP. But I prefer the non-articulating film advance, the pull-up rewind knob and the fingerprint magnet black paint. I could live without the red dot as well... Jimmyp82 Posted October 19, 2022 Share #918  Posted October 19, 2022 The reason to release it is as I said. Youtubers and influencers have built up the hype and therefore value of the M6, there's no technical reason behind it.

Why do they produce cameras and lenses in silver chrome when they have blacks already? Why not put an M6-sticker on an MP and cause 50 pages in this forum before it is released? Only good thing to come out of this is if they can now repair M6 meters again. I think they saw what black paint special edition M6s were selling for and wanted a piece of that.
