Unfortunately my M9 suffered terminal sensor failure.   I replaced it with a pre-owned M240 to utilise my M lenses.  There are lots of things I like about that camera but when I switch on there is a clunk that sounds like a shutter release.  I don't recall this from the M9. Can anyone explain?

Thanks

Could the live view be left on?

If the live view is not turned off before you turn the camera off it will open the shutter when you turn the camera on.

Hi. I did a reset and the problems seems to have gone away.  Thanks.

What you describe sounds as if the camera was in live view on mode.  If this sound reappears, live view would be the first thing to check.

If advanced metering mode, when you turn on the M240, the shutter opens and exposes sensor and hence the sound. If classic metering, no sound as shutter would be kept down.

That actually was why I only used the classic metering w my M240 - I hated the clunk!
