Advertisement Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Hi Wayne96732, Take a look here Leica M11 and Leica 50mm Summicron 11826. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ray Vonn Posted August 24, 2022 Share #2 Posted August 24, 2022 Yes. That lens and camera will be a great combination.
John McDade Posted August 24, 2022 Share #3 Posted August 24, 2022 I use a Rigid Summicron (1965) with the M11 and it's terrific. When I want something a little more clinical, I use a Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 50mm, but the Summicron is great.
jdlaing Posted August 24, 2022 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2022 There is probably not a relatively modern Leica lens that the M11 would out resolve.

If not, have you tried it? If your question is "will the 50/2 v5 (11826) be able to display the sharpest possible image that the M11 sensor can display?" then the answer is NO. I owned the 11826 years ago along with the M9. Its a fabulous lens and I wouldn't hesitate to use it on the M11. The secret sauce of the M11 sensor is that it shows off the true character of every Leica M lens that I've used it with. I've shot the collapsible summicron, the summicron rigid, and the 50/1.4 ASPH BC. they all look amazing and quite different on the M11. If you like what you see with the 11826, you are going to see more of it on the M11.
lct Posted August 25, 2022 Share #7 Posted August 25, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Enough resolving power for the M11, i don't know what this means exactly sorry. Both Summicron 50/2 v4 (11819) and v5 (11826) keep their character and won't become sharper or softer on the M11 than on other cameras. Resolution will then remain high in the centre of the frame, less so on edges and corners below f/4. Still gentle on portraits at f/2.
