Michael A. Marcus Posted August 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted August 18, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) There's a roll of film in it still frames unexposed so I don't want to open it --- Why does my 0.72 M7 not have a serial number on the bottom plate? Or anywhere else that's visible on the exterior. Dumb question probably has an easy answer! Never noticed before.
Advertisement Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Hi Michael A. Marcus, Take a look here M7 No Serial # (???!!!). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted August 18, 2022 Share #2 Posted August 18, 2022 It's either because it's a fake M7, or alternatively, and this in a long shot, it's because the serial number is engraved on the hot shoe.
Michael A. Marcus Posted August 18, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted August 18, 2022 Thank you! Ah yes, of course, ye olde hot shoe! How could I have forgotten. Didn't think Tamarkin then in NYC would sell me a fake, whenever that was!
earleygallery Posted August 18, 2022 Share #4 Posted August 18, 2022 If the number is on the hotshoe it's definitely a Russian zorki fake

I have an M2 with somebody's social security number carved into the bottom plate...yeah, it's ugly as hell but it never shows in the photos. I've seen so many cameras with social sec #s, or driver's license #s scratched on them. That was from the day when: 1/ Identity theft was unknown b/ Cameras were seen as keeping them forever items.
