How do you toggle Constant Preview ON/OFF with a flash installed on S1/S1R/S1H?

I would like to judge ambient exposure only by turning off constant preview.  When I have a flash installed on my S1H, I cannot turn off constant preview on the camera.  I can only turn the flash off to override it to judge ambient light only.  Thanks.

I assigned "Preview" to an FN button.  When shutter speed effect is turned on, then I get the ambient only preview with a flash installed and turned on.  The "Constant Preview" function will not toggle ON/OFF with the flash turned on.

It appears to me to be quite logical. When using flash an exposure preview will not have any validity and the viewfinder will be too dark to see anything b

Exposure preview is valid for me to assess/adjust the brightness of ambient light alone before mixing flash with ambient for outdoor portraits for instance.  In studio, I use my SL with strobes and I reduce ambient light to total darkness in that case.

If what Mick H wants to do is what I think he wants to do - which is for the screen/viewfinder to show the view in a studio when set at 1/180s @f8 when the normal light intensity would have 1/4s @f8; is to set CONSTANT PREVIEW to OFF (settings menu, 6th one down and then sub menu)

But re-reading original post, I have no idea what you mean or want to do?
