It's true that film photographers dominate the Favorite Images, but he was referring to this incredibly high level and active thread. And just to say that Adam Miller, a successful professional who contributes significantly to this thread, years ago gave up digital to return to film. Hasn't done badly by the switch. Yes, you can sort of redo digital to be "film-like", but it's not the same, either in aesthetic or in approach.

Funny, but when I peruse the "I like film" thread, I don't think that the average quality is above that of, say, the SL image thread.

People can shoot with whatever they want, but as we all know, the person holding the camera is more important than the camera.

I agree with both of your statements: the best film photos aren't better than the best digital photos, and the photographer is more important than the medium. My comments were to suggest that others don't construe that film is aesthetically inferior. And I believe that film can still teach us a lot about photography generally.

They are orchids and absolutely beautiful, but I don’t know their names. I also don’t have the experience of shooting nature/flowers (our Q2 owning friend Zampelis is one of the masters though) and I felt I was missing a macro lens and better lighting to really do them justice.

Those are lovely photos, nonetheless!

Zampelis (Dimitrios) has a Q, not a Q2. He does much of his magic in post, where he is also a computer genius.

I wanted to share my excitement.  Just finished packing my bag for Rome trip tomorrow.  Following on from recent discussion on this thread about film, as you can see my film M4P is packed along with 4 rolls of film to accompany the CL on the trip.  Hope I don't end up wishing I took my digital M but my Daughter bought me that huge photo book in anticipation of this trip and I have been busy soaking up the amazing images, loads in there from HCB and many other very famous photographers, how could I not use some film, so packed 2 b&w and 2 colour, wish me luck😋.  Of course I know my trusty CL will bring me back some keepers.  Big book will not be coming along obviously but if you have any interest in Rome I thoroughly recommend looking it up.  CL and 35 TL - now packed too.
