Turkey Foot

Gig Blue Stem

The tallest of our prairie grasses.

The Early Europeans called it "Turkey Foot"

The roots is what they built their homes with.

CL with 60mm TL, cropped at about 80% . . .

This lens has neither distance nor ratio markings, but I'm guessing this was just inside 1:3.  Any closer and AF must be coaxed with more than one half-press of the shutter button.

Interestingly, of the two dozen or so macro-capable lenses I've had over the years, this is one of only two with which I'm able to use autofocus with consistently satisfactory results.  The lens did a good job of compensating for my rusty technique.

White Pine in front, Norway Pines behind. Some natives call Norway Pines Red Pines.

The dawn light makes The Norway Pines

look twice as red as they do during daylight.

Oops, Oak Tree in front, NOT White Pine. Sorry for the multiple posts.
