I just picked up another Nikon macro for my CL, this time a 200 Micro Nikkor. Very well balanced, not front heavy like my 200 Telyt, also more contrast than the Telyt. Silky internal focus, on its own it will go down to 1:2 magnification, with a TC301 2x converter it is a 400mm that goes to 1:1. A non macro image from it.

Hi Tommonego,

May I ask for your opinion about ZM 18mm in terms of sharpness ( centre and edge ) as well distortion .  What is the optimum aperture for best image quality?

Thanks,

Thanks,

If you are going to use it on a CL or TLx I would seriously look at the 18 Elmarit for the CL, do a conparison if you can. I bought the 18 ZM mostly to use on my M8 (for a 24mm equivalent). During the winter I was disappointed that there was a blue tint to overcast photos. The photo off the Quechee bridge is a good example for the lens, one of the few times I had it on the CL. For my CL I have the 11-23 zoom which is bigger than the 18 ZM but not by much and a much better lens. As you can see I have mixed feelings about the lens. On a sunny day it works great on the M8. If you want a lens to go with an M camera and the CL, the 18 ZM and the 18 Super Elmar- M are your choices, there are some issues with that lens regarding filters.
